Popcorn Science: Under Pressure | Nov 30th
from $21.00

What makes a tiny kernel of corn explode into a fluffy piece of popcorn? There's more science behind this favorite snack than you might think!

In this Rooted Discovery kit, kids will uncover the secrets hiding inside a popcorn kernel as they explore heat, moisture, steam, and pressure. They'll discover why some kernels pop while others don't, investigate what makes popcorn different from other types of corn, and learn how something as simple as water can create an explosive reaction!

Along the way, we'll travel through the fascinating history of popcorn, from its ancient roots in the Americas to the snack we know and love today. We'll explore how corn grows, how it's harvested, and why proper drying and storage make all the difference.

Then it's time to put popcorn to the test! Kids will become kitchen scientists as they conduct hands-on experiments, make predictions, compare results, and discover the science behind the perfect pop.

And of course, there will be plenty of popcorn to enjoy along the way!

Packed with science, history, agriculture, and hands-on discovery, this kit proves that even an everyday snack can spark some pretty big curiosity.

Woven Together: A Tradition of Threads | Nov 16th
from $21.00

Before clothing came from stores and fabrics were made in factories, people relied on their own hands to turn simple threads into something useful. Weaving is one of the oldest crafts in the world, and its traditions have been passed down through generations.

In this Rooted Discovery kit, kids will explore the fascinating history of weaving, discover how different cultures turned fibers into fabric, and learn how families once gave worn-out clothing and scraps of material a whole new purpose.

Along the way, we'll investigate the science behind weaving, discover why a simple over-and-under pattern creates strong fabric, and explore the resourcefulness of generations past.

Then it's time to become a weaver! Kids will build their own loom and use colorful fabric strips to create a beautiful, handwoven table mat, just in time for Thanksgiving.

But this project is about more than weaving. It's about learning a traditional skill, finding value in everyday materials, and creating something with your own two hands that can become part of your family's Thanksgiving traditions.

Seasoned with Tradition: The Art of Brining | Nov 23rd
from $21.00

What’s the secret to a juicy, flavorful Thanksgiving turkey? It might just be a little science!

In this Rooted Discovery kit, kids will explore the fascinating history of salt, discover how people preserved food long before refrigerators and uncover the science behind brining. Why does salt draw water out of some foods but help meat hold onto moisture? And what happens when we combine salt with fragrant herbs, fruits and spices?

Along the way, we'll investigate where our seasonings come from, discover how different cultures have used salt throughout history and explore the traditions that have shaped our Thanksgiving tables.

Then it's time to head into the kitchen! Kids will create their own aromatic turkey brine using a blend of dried fruits, spices and seasonings, ready to help prepare the family's Thanksgiving feast.

But this kit is about more than making a delicious turkey. It's about connecting science, history and practical kitchen skills while giving kids a chance to contribute something special to the Thanksgiving table.
