Westward Bound: Oregon Trail & No-Sew Pioneer Doll

Travel back more than 150 years and imagine what life might have been like for a child traveling west on the Oregon Trail. Kids will follow the journey west while learning about pioneer childhood, the jobs children were expected to help with, and the simple toys they made from materials they had available.

Along the way, your child will create their own no-sew pioneer rag doll using fabric, wool, yarn, and lavender. They’ll also make a button whirligig, explore wool and lavender, follow an interactive Oregon Trail map, and discover important stops from Independence, Missouri, all the way to Oregon City.
