(Sibling add on) Westward Bound: Oregon Trail & No-Sew Pioneer Doll
Travel back more than 150 years and imagine what life might have been like for a child traveling west on the Oregon Trail. In this hands-on Farm School kit, kids will make their own no-sew pioneer doll from fabric scraps, wool, yarn, and dried lavender while discovering how children used creativity and the materials they had to make their own toys.
But the doll is only part of the adventure! Kids will follow the Oregon Trail from Independence, Missouri, to Oregon City, learn about important stops along the way, discover the chores pioneer children helped with, explore real stories and history, and even make a simple button whirligig to experience the kind of homemade fun children enjoyed long before overflowing toy boxes.
Along the way, we’ll explore wool and lavender, learn why lavender is such a fun addition to our doll, and see how everyday materials could be turned into something useful, comforting, and fun.
Each sibling add-on includes the individual supplies a second child needs to complete the activities, along with any printables that need to be written on. Shared materials and reusable resources are not duplicated. Sibling add-ons must be purchased with a full kit and cannot be purchased separately.
Designed for curious kids who love making, exploring, and discovering what life was like in the past.
